To open sked stretcher and lay flat

  1. Remove the sked from pack and position on ground.
  2. Unfasten retainer strap. Step on foot end of sked and unfold entirely to other end.
  3. Bend the stretcher over your forearm and back roll. Repeat with other end too.
  4. The stretcher should now lay flat.

What does Sked stretcher stand for?

Though we spell it with capital letters, SKED is not an acronym. It came from fusing two words: “Sled” and “Skid.” The early idea behind the product was that it was a SLED that SKIDDED across all types of terrain. Initially, the SKED was used as a game carrier to tote wild game back to a hunter’s camp.

Can you use a sked without a backboard?

The answer is YES! This is one of the advantages of choosing the Sked stretcher. It can be used with most (if not all) backboards, with a short spine immobilizer, or with nothing at all. If a spinal injury is not suspected, then no additional equipment needs to be used with the Sked.
