What is a Riekling?

Rieklings are small, Goblin-like creatures that inhabit the island of Solstheim, usually inhabiting caves, ruins, and mountain peaks in small tribes.

What are Riekling Spears for?

Riekling Spears (for more information see Riekling) are weapons found in The Elder Scrolls V: Dragonborn. They are wielded by Rieklings, who use them as both melee and ranged weaponry, although they can only be used as arrows by the Dragonborn.

Can you befriend Rieklings?

You gain the ability to recruit Riekling followers by completing the quest “The Chief Of Thirsk Hall.” To start this quest, travel to Thirsk Mead Hall on Solstheim; the exact location is on the map above. Speak with the Riekling outside of Thirsk Hall and follow them inside to speak with the Chief.

How many Riekling followers can you have?

Whenever they show up, the Dragonborn essentially gets up to three protected followers for free, which is invaluable for surviving tough battles on Master/Legendary difficulty. While not in combat, the Dragonborn usually can ask one of them to be a follower right away by talking to them.

Can Rieklings wear armor?

ALL rieklings can wear heavy and light armor, although they benefit from light armor more. Riekling scouts and regular rieklings will use bows/arrows, as well as greatswords, as far as I’m aware. The Hunters prefer ranged combat whereas the warriors will prefer to use swords.

Riekling warriors using a two handed sword can be disarmed by draugr, which may result in the loss of the weapon if it is not noticed by the player. If you hire a Riekling and bring them to Skyrim, they may randomly appear even though they are supposed to return to Solstheim.
