What does a fold line look like?

Foldlines – a fold line may be marked with just the words or a boxed arrow and indicates that this edge of the pattern piece should be placed along the folded edge of the fabric (where right sides of the fabric are folded against each other with selvedges matching). There is no seam allowance along a fold line.

Why do pattern pieces have a fold line?

On the Fold – Represented by a line with arrows pointing in a particular direction, the “on the fold” marking shows you where to position the edge of your pattern piece on a fold of your fabric. This allows you to cut a piece of fabric that is twice as large as the pattern piece.

What is flat pattern?

The flat-pattern method is where the entire pattern is drafted on a flat surface from measurements, using rulers, curves and straight-edges. Usually, flat patterning begins with the creation of a sloper or block pattern, a simple, fitted garment made to the wearer’s measurements.

What does cut 2 on the fold mean?

What is lengthwise centerfold?

Lengthwise centerfold- The fabric is folded lengthwise at the center with selvages together. 2. Crosswise centerfold- The fabric is folded crosswise at the center with the raw edges together. Depending on the fabric’s width, be sure to fold the fabric on grain.

What is cut 1 on fold?

– “Place on fold” or “Cut 1 on fold” → Line up the fold edge indicated on the pattern with the fold of the fabric. You’ll end up cutting one symmetrical piece of fabric from a pattern piece which corresponds to half. So in this example, you’d cut two pieces in fabric and two matching pieces in interfacing.

How many types of flat pattern methods are there?

There are three methods of flat pattern technique, which are as follows: Pivot method: By this method, darts can be moved from one point to another. For this, thick cardboard, which is firm and sturdy, is required. Seam allowance is not added.

Line-folds are important as a method of pleating and can be used in a series of scoring and bending to create three-dimensional forms. Forged line-folds are used in many fold forms, and frequently create shapes with strong similarities to organic forms. The following pages show a variety of examples of line-folds.

How do you use a line fold on a sheet?

Unfold the sheet. Hammer the raised line in a process I call confirming. Line-folds produce raised lines in flat sheet that resemble chased lines or applied wires. They make excellent pattern elements, cloissons for enameling, and serve to make changes in plane and direction in the sheet.

What is PE100 folding&form lining?

Fold & form is a close fit lining method that is achieved via deformation of the PE100 pipe to form a “C” or “U” shape as shown in the illustrations above and below. The basic principle of the folding technique is to reduce the effective diameter of the PE100 liner pipe, which enables it to be pulled into the host pipe with a minimum of friction.
