Why is it called T-34?
The original prototype had the plant index A-32, but at the last moment it was upgunned to a 76mm cannon, so the index was changed to A-34. So this was changed to T-34, when the army adopted the vehicle. After the war the indexes were roughly assigned according to the year of adoption.
