Can I use my ice transducer with a Side Imaging or Down Imaging unit? If you would like to ice fish using 2D sonar on a Humminbird model, (excluding ICE Flashers, ONIX and SOLIX models) an XI 9 20 or XI 9 1521 CHIRP ice transducer can be added to provide 2D sonar. Yes. The Side Imaging units will show detailed images of the bottom up to 150 feet deep. Also the side imaging can be used to scan an area of water up to 480 feet wide for suspended fish and baitfish regardless of the depth.

To shoot through clear ice it helps to wet the surface where the transducer is in contact. Your regular ducer will work fine. You do want it hanging horizontal and just below the bottom of the hole for best results.

Are Humminbird transducers interchangeable?

If you’d prefer one of the above, you are welcome to exchange your transducer through our factory. We can only exchange transducers which have never been used, installed or assembled. You must also include the original mounting hardware.

I think that Humminbird did an excellent job at making sure all the necessary parts were provided. The transducer came with a support cable that removes any tension on the signal cable by caging around the transducer and hooking to the unit for support.
