Are Chromag bikes worth it?
The bike has been amazing; I bought as the last hardtail I’ll every buy. The quality and attention to detail are as high quality as you’d expect. It also has that sweet spot geometry that isn’t crazy slack and low and isn’t upright XC. Its perfect for just hard trail riding and comfortable for long, epic rides.
Is Chromag a good brand?
Established by Ian Ritz in 2002, Chromag is Whistler’s only mountain bike manufacturer and is known around world for making the top-quality bars, stems, pedals and saddles. They also make much coveted, custom painted hardtails, in a variety of wheel sizes.

It starts with our own personal use and extends to the community in one of the best testing environments in the world, here in the rugged Coast Mountains of British Columbia, Canada. As we grow we are continually evolving and refining our designs and expanding our product offering.

Ian Ritz: Chromag started in 2003. It wasn’t so much a business intent at that time, I just wanted to make a hardtail frame that we couldn’t find anywhere and a couple of cool parts.
Where are Chromag parts made?
Made In Canada Not all of our products are manufactured in Canada but we still make a wide variety of our line right here in beautiful British Columbia. Anything from QR’s and stems, to frame parts such as cable guides and bottom brackets are CNC machined next door at North Shore Billet.

Handmade In Taiwan Our Taiwanese frames are still hand built, but instead of being put together by one individual, a team of specialists diligently forms each one.

What are Chromag bikes made of?
We use quality 4130 chromoly steel tubing. Chromoly is an abbreviation for chromium-molybdenum indicating the materials that the steel is alloyed with. The added chromium helps increase the steels hardenability and also provide some corrosion resistance. The molybdenum helps to increase the toughness of the steel.
