Do colleges take your highest SAT score?
Most colleges will Superscore the SAT, which means they will take the highest of all the scores you submit. For example: You take the SAT in March and get a Critical Reading (CR) score of 550, Math (M) score of 650, and Writing (WR) score of 540. You then take it in May and get CR600, M620, and WR550.

Superscores look worse when your section scores are significantly different on one of your exams. Say you got a 770 in Reading/Writing and a 600 in Math on your first test. If you get a 440 in Reading/Writing and a 700 in Math, you might look a bit lazy.
Is taking Sat 4 times bad?
Here’s the thing: students can take the SAT as many times as they want. Unlike the ACT, College Board places no restrictions on how often students can take the SAT. However, while you can test as much as often as you want, I don’t recommend taking the SAT more than 4 times total.

Most 11th grade students are incredibly busy and SAT Prep work is difficult to squeeze in. If you do well on this test as a 10th grader, you can get in to some very competitive programs which are not open to all students. However, if you only plan to take the SAT once, then I would wait another year.

ACT and SAT scores drop in 2020.
How many times can you retake the SAT?
