Can any printer print MICR?
The MICR line on checks must be printed using magnetic toner. This special toner is only available for laser printers (and some special dot matrix printers.) Inkjet printers can not print MICR! In general, your printer manufacturer will not sell this special toner.
Can I print checks with an inkjet printer?
You can print your own checks with almost any printer: inkjet, laserjet, even offset printers. Some check printers have special features that boost the security of your checks, like watermarks and even thermochromatic ink—but you can use any basic home-office printer, too.
Is it legal to print your own checks?
Yes, printing checks from your own printer is perfectly legal. However, they must be printed on special paper.
What is the main difference between a regular HP printer and a HP Troy printer?
