Sadly, Rameses Revenge has reached the end of its operating life. Due to ever-increasing maintenance costs, an opportunity for replacement was seen for breathing new life into the Forbidden Kingdom. Chessington Buzz will, of course, be following developments at the park as we head into the closed season.

What did Chessington get called?

1642 – 1660. During the Civil War the original building became a Cavalier stronghold, and was burnt to the ground by Cromwell’s forces. Rebuilt after the restoration, it was renamed ‘Burnt Stub’, and has continued to be so known.

When did Beanoland close?

Beanoland was an area themed around The Beano comic. It opened in 2000 and closed in 2009, featuring Billy’s Whizzer, Dennis’ Madhouse, Roger the Dodger’s Dodgems and Bash Street Bus. The area was rethemed into Wild Asia in 2010 with all rides intact and the addition of KOBRA to the area.

What replaced Bubbleworks at Chessington?

On 1 January 2017, Chessington announced that The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure would replace Bubbleworks. The new ride was produced by Merlin Magic Making and officially opened on 18 March 2017, with the surrounding Transylvania area renamed ‘Wild Woods’.
