What does T-molding mean?
T-moldings are used to create a transition between two floors of equal thickness. For example, in a room that’s running over 40 feet in length, we recommend a transition molding to divide the floor and introduce an expansion gap (hidden by the T-molding) within a reasonable distance for structural stability.
Do I have to use T-molding?

How Do You Measure T-molding?
Step 1 – Measure the width of the doorway between the floors. If your T-molding uses a metal track, measure and cut it with tin snips. Step 2 – Always measure twice before cutting the T-molding strip. Use a miter saw or power saw for a cleaner cut.
What can I use instead of T molding?
Simply jack the tile. It will look cleaner than using some clunky-arsed t- mould. Stategically placed pure silicone will negate any potential edge fracture issues with the tile while allowing sufficient movement of the wood floor. Unless the tile is stone, the edge will not be glazed if it is ceramic.
Where can you use T molding?

How much space do you need for T molding?
The standard width of a T-molding strip is 2 inches, and the standard height is 5/8 inch. The base of the T-shape can range from 1/2 inch to 3/4 inches wide. Leave a 1-inch space on the floor to accommodate the base of the T-molding strip.
