Mustangs (all of them) don’t take GAIN pedals well. If you are pumping in a chorus or some other non-gain effect, you’d probably be ok for purely clean tones.

Does the Mustang II modeling amp work?
As a person with a predisposition to advocate towards the Mustang series (and cheaper gear), it works as best as a $100 modelling amp could possibly work. You’re not going to get any Super sonic type sounds, but it gets the job done. I own a Mustang II myself (they all use essentially the same guts in a lot of key ways).
