Where is Rega Planar 3?
As always, the Planar 3 is still produced in Rega’s UK manufacturing plant located in Southend-on-Sea, Essex UK. Remarkably, the 2016 Planar 3 only rose in price nominally from its predecessor, revealing the benefits of Rega’s increased manufacturing capacity and popularity.
What is the difference between Rega Planar 2 and 3?
The Planar 2 has the new RB220 arm — a one-piece design that provides more rigidity and features Rega’s famous zero tolerance bearings. The Planar 3 includes the new RB330 tonearm with even tighter tolerance bearings and a new tonearm cable clip. You even get Neutrik connectors on the Planar 3!
Is Rega Planar 3 moving magnet?
The Planar 3 comes pre-fitted with Rega’s own Elys 2 moving-magnet cartridge, worth around £120, although you can buy it without the cartridge for £550. Another change that Rega has made from the RP3 is the placement of the on/off switch.

What makes a Thorens turntable so good?
The entire turntable rests on specially designed feet that effectively dampen the vibration. Any airborne or footfall vibrations are also killed thanks to the platter, so not only do the Acrylic series turntables look great, but they sound amazing as well.
