What happens when you negate the activation of a continuous trap?

If it says “Negate the Activation”, it means, negate the card when it’s first placed face-up onto the field. In general, Continuous Trap Cards have Continuous-like effect that don’t activate.

Is a trap card an activated effect?

Cards and effects cannot be activated in response to cards or effects with higher Spell Speed. Cards and effects also cannot be activated while a Chain is resolving. To activate a Spell or Trap Card is to play it on the field face-up from your hand or flipped from face-down on the field.

Can you activate negated effects?

“Only once per turn” effects, like “Spellbook of Secrets”, may only be activated once per turn, and if the activation is negated you can use them again. However, if the effect is negated, say, with something like “Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring”, you have still activated the card, and you cannot activate another copy.

Does negating an activation destroy the card?

Negating the activation of a card or effect and destroying that card are not the same thing; as such, even if a card is Chained to the activation of a card or effect to destroy that card, its effect may still resolve, with or without effect.

Do you still pay cost if activation is negated?

If it’s negated, you can’t activate it, you pay the cost when you activate it.

Does Twin Twister negate?

“Twister” doesn’t negate anything, and (like most Normal Trap Cards) “Sakuretsu Armor” doesn’t need to remain face-up on the field, so the effect of “Sakuretsu Armor” will still resolve and destroy the attacking monster.

When can you activate normal trap Cards?

Normal Trap Cards are Spell Speed 2. They can be activated during either player’s turn as long as it wasn’t set that turn. The effects of certain Normal Trap Cards behave like Equip Cards, but the card is still considered a Normal Trap Card.

When can quick effect be activated?

Fast effects can be activated by either player – even during their opponent’s turn, as long as the conditions are appropriate. When both players want to activate fast effects at the same time, they are placed on a Chain (see pages 38-41 of the v8.

Can you negate a negate?

Yes you can negate a negate. Some common examples are chaining Called By the Grave to a handtrap, such as Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, which negates searches, foolish burials, and deck summons, negating the handtrap.

Does crackdown negate summon effects?

Crackdown only prevent effect activations, not negate the card. When chained to an effect activation, the effect still goes through.

Can you negate cost?

Activation cost The cost itself is not activated, cannot be negated, and occurs at activation time not resolution time.

Does MST negate Mirror Force?

“Mystical Space Typhoon” destroys “Royal Decree”, “Mirror Force” than [sic] resolves and destroys all Attack Position monsters the opponent controls. Since “Royal Decree” is no longer face-up when “Mirror Force” resolves, it will not negate the effect of “Mirror Force”.
