Why was the ENA created?

Without knowing each other and on opposite sides of the country, Anita Dorr and Judith Kelleher had a vision to launch an organization that could support, educate and advocate for emergency nurses. For 50 years ENA has focused its mission on doing just that.

Who is an emergency nurse?

What do emergency nurses do? ER nurses treat patients who are suffering from trauma, injury or severe medical conditions and require urgent treatment. Since these specialists work in crisis situations, they must be able to quickly identify the best way to stabilize patients and minimize pain.

Can I study ENA without matric?

Studying nursing without matric will be very challenging. If you did not pass Grade 12, the only consideration to be admitted to study the programme is if you have an equivalent qualification that meets the entry requirement. You can either do a matric rewrite in this case or take an alternative course.

Why is ENA positive?

Interpretation of results for the tests included in an ENA panel are provided in the table below. A positive test result means that the person has more of that autoantibody in their blood than the designated reference value.
