The hike through the park to reach the Grotto in Tobermory takes about 45 minutes each way. Along the way, you’ll see diverse wetlands, ancient cedar trees spiraling from cliff-edges, a multitude of orchids and ferns, birds, and so much more!
Can you get to the Grotto without parking?
The entrance booth that you have to pass to get to the parking lot requires a timed parking reservation or they will turn you back. We spoke to a Canada Parks member to confirm the new rules and they verified that the only exception to the parking reservation is if you bike in to the Grotto.

The Grotto is a must see when you come to Tobermory. It’s about a 3 km walk from the parking lot to the Grotto but well worth the walk. That was on the shortest way to the Grotto. Was a bit of a walk to the location from the parking lot. Nice scenery, clear water, but challenging terrain for some people.

Where to take pictures in Tobermory?
Grotto has cold water, rocky to stand at, clear and beautiful all around. One of the best places to take a pic in probably all parks in Ontario. You can swim in the water, just laze and enjoy your day. Definitely have to visit if in Tobermory.
